Not sure what the proper category is for painted slate.
Anyways, this is for a very special person who is really into Discordianism, so I pulled some stuff from Alexander Pope's translation of the Iliad. The verses are as follows:
The saffron morn, with early blushes spread, Now rose refulgent from Tithonus bed; With new-born day to gladden mortal sight, And gild the courts of heaven with sacred light: When baleful Eris, sent by Joves command, The torch of discord blazing in her hand, Through the red skies her bloody sign extends, And, wrapt in tempests, oer the fleet descends. High on Ulysses bark her horrid stand She took, and thunderd through the seas and land.
The apple says "kallieste" which means "for the fairest" in Ancient Greek. This is a slight variant from the modern Greek.
Awww, he's gonna love this. It's really pretty. I wish I could have gotten into the Iliad, but then again I was still in middle school and more into Norse Mythology when I tried reading it before. ^.^;

I still haven't actually sat down and read it yet, something I kept meaning to do before starting on the Aeneid. There are some really nifty translations out there. I prefer the metrical ones just because you're reading lines of poetry. If it's written as prose, that'll seem really dense. There are some people who get really uptight about the rhyming translations, but it all depends on what you like.

If holidays were twelve months long And life were games and fun And all the skies Were filled with PSI's ...Would thinking still get done?
Oooh I really like this. It has a lot more going on than your last one, but it doesn't look too cluttered. I really think this is a nice elegant touch, and having it in your handwriting shows a lot about you and tells a little bit of your won story through the piece.
I think this is a great idea for gifts, and I hope the people you give them to will love them (I know I would if I got one of these!)
Why thank you! I've still got a few more I need to do, but I'm gonna try posting more and more of these pictures as I can since I have a lot more to show. I've got pictures of the stuff I did earlier which I might put up too.
So far, people seem to really like the idea, and I just love painting them. I still play around with possibly selling these (more like if I ever needed the extra income), but I think I would only do that in dire straits.
