Artist's Comments

Another present I made for a friend a while ago.

He remarked on how much he preferred night over day, so I pulled this quote from Lord Byron's Poetical Works:

"Most glorious night!
Thou wert not sent for slumber."

On the back of the wall hanging I finished the poem:

Let me be
A sharer in thy fierce and far delight--
A portion of the tempest and of thee
How lit the lake shines, a phosphoric sea
And the big rain comes dancing to the earth
And now again 't is black--and now, the glee
Of the loud hills shakes with its mountain-mirth
As they did rejoice o'er a young earthquake's birth.

I had no idea until after I gave him this that he was a big fan of Byron's poetry. That is true serendipity.

That's pretty sweet that he wound up being a fan of Byron's, and I can totally relate. I prefer night over day myself. ^_^
